Flat Pedals

Flat Bike Pedals are the most common pedal you can use, and by far the easiest to use. They are mostly found on hybrid bikes, mountain bikes and kid’s bikes. Many mountain bikers use clipless pedals, but there are still many who favour flat pedals for their ease and freedom of movement.

Also called platform pedals, flats are simply a platform in which to place your foot. To add grip, they either have a rough surface of have grip pins to stick to your shoes. Some of these pins are replaceable, in case you hit something on the trails. High end flat pedals come with sealed bearings or bushings, and the very top level offerings get titanium axles. Most of the pedals bodies are made from alloy.
